mother, mama
mother in the garden
flowers bloom at her touch
verdant greens
barren soil becomes fruitful
bees come and go,
rabbits watch, nervous.
petals soft as silk.
mama, when it's all over,
will you lay me to sleep one last time?
place me in between the rows of turnips
let me bloom like your flowers do.
mama, when it's all over,
will you tend to me once last time?
paper-soft hands, let me help your crops grow
mama, when it's all over,
all i will be is food for the worms.
you do not have to kiss my brow. i will not feel it. i know it's been hard, i saw how dry the soil was before you laid your eyes upon it. i know how much of your blood has gone into it. let me do the same.
mama, when it's all over.
let me sleep.
